Rath Yatra or chariot festival is celebrated by Hindus, The Ahmedabad Rath Yatra has a history of more 130 years. The procession begins from the Jagannath temple in 400-year-old in Jamalpur Jamalpur locality in Ahmedabad city and passes through a 14 km route.Lord Jagannath`s 137th Rath Yatra begins in Ahmedabad on Sunday. First time, woman chief minister of Gujarat, Anandi Patel will perform the `Pahind-Vidhi”.
Rath Yatra is also held in many cities and towns like Bhavnagar, Vadodara, Gandhinagar, Surat and Porbandarand many cities. Rath Yatra in Ahmedabad, Gujarat is July 18. The procession would comprise 18 elephants, 100 trucks, 30 religious congregations, 18 singing troupes, three chariots and seven cars.It is pass through some communally sensitive areas, such as Kalupur, Prem Darwaja, Delhi Chakla, Dariyapur and Shahpur in the old city.
The main attractions during Ahmedabad Rath Yatra is the procession of caparisoned elephants. Decorated elephants take part in almost all the important rituals associated with the Ahmedabad Rath Yatra.
